摘要: 梁启超于1902年创办的《新民丛报》《新小说》,刊登了大量以先进技术印制的图像,为杂志文本提供了新的诠释维度,对于晚清以来的知识转型与大众传媒的形塑也扮演着不可忽视的角色。两刊物所使用的图像,一方面在标榜给读者带来乐趣的表层下埋藏着复杂的“展示政治”,呈现全球文明风貌与进化景观,诠释人类文明竞争进化的历史,与梁启超的文本论述相配合;另一方面通过图像谱系介入历史叙事的建构,其超前性的选择预示了民国初年都市文化消费的潮流。通过杂志传播的大量图像,给中国人带来世界真实形象的启蒙,为晚清以来的新知识体系建立了可见可感的视觉基础,构成中国视觉现代性的标志性内容。

Abstract:  In 1902, Liang Qichao founded Xinmin Congbao and New Novel, which published a large number of images printed with advanced technology, providing a new interpretation dimension for the magazine text, and playing an important role in the transformation of knowledge and the shaping of mass media since the late Qing Dynasty. The images used in the two journals, on the one hand, contain complex “display politics”, present the global civilization style and evolution landscape, interpret the history of human civilization competition and evolution, and coordinate with Liang Qichao’s text discussion. On the other hand, through the image pedigree involved in the construction of historical narrative, it indicates the trend of urban cultural consumption in the early years of the Republic of China. Through a large number of images, it brings the enlightenment of the real image of the world to the Chinese, establishes a visible and perceptible visual basis for the new knowledge system since the late Qing Dynasty, and constitutes the symbolic content of Chinese visual modernity.
