Abstract:

The Jiguan Fabrication Technique mainly refers to a notion applied to the modern video game which was created at the end of the 20th century. It is not only used to define the specific roles in the game which are so-called mechanical“human”“bird”“boat”“weapon”, and so on. The Jiguan Fabrication Technique combines ancient Chinese culture and western technology elements in the video game scene,and it has been regarded as a kind of Chinese Antique style in cyberspace. Over two decades, the connotation and extension of the Jiguan Fabrication Technique have been widely used in the content, and visual design of video games along with the development of media technology, and its influence has extended such as literature, music, animation, and electronic competitive sports and other fields. Under the impetus that came from digital technology, Jiguan Fabrication Technique merges into the current new media cultural landscape and popular culture, and it participates in shaping the younger generation’s cultural cognition. On the one hand, it attempts to clarify the conceptual construction processes and cultural influence of the Jiguan Fabrication Technique in video games. On the other hand, by examining the ways of performance and the dissemination of cultural symbols, it examines how the Chinese ancient cultural heritage be applied, developed, and output through diverse ways and tries to explore the problem presented.
