Abstract:
There are always differences between Chinese and Western interpretations on “China”. World China Studies advocate the in-depth practice of “critical China studies”, taking regional studies as a methodological approach, and discuss “what is China” with the world through the text analysis of “deep reading” and the empirical research of “social investigations”. From the perspective of comparisons among civilizations, World China Studies pay attention to the rich connotation of “people” in Chinese civilization and contemporary China, and present the research concept of “human-centered”. In the process of this paradigm shift, China has gradually changed from a consumer of Western theories to a subject of Chinese studies and a narrator of Chinese truth on a global scale, hoping to form Chinese knowledge with a local perspective and a global perspective, which will contribute to the mutual learning among civilizations and development of all human beings.
